Task (7) Problem and Solutions
Everyone knows these days that global warming is a big problem in our life. Global warming has increased more than before. Of course there are many causes for this problem; also there are many solutions that the scientists have discovered. In this blog I’m going to write a problem-solution report about global warming and give a solutions plan in my opinion.
The problems that face us about the global warming are many. I’ll talk about the most important issues. The first problem related with global warming is the effect on animals. In general, it affects nature. It affects the lives of the animals and their lifestyle for many countries(http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/299360/the_effects_of_global_warming_on_animals.html ) . That means if the climate changed 1 C, it will have effects in big ways. Imagine it changing to 5 C? It will be a catastrophe. A third problem is the increase of carbon dioxide. If the carbon dioxide level increase, the temperature of the earth will rise and it will become hotter and hotter (http://footprint.wwf.org.uk). We also measured our carbon foot print and my footprint is 3.64 which mean I need 3.64 planets to live; it was the same in our class and almost all students need 3.86 planets to live their lifestyle. Most of us share in increasing our footprint by eating and travelling.
Although there are many problems for global warming, also there are several things we can do to solve the problem of global warming. (http://www.globalwarmingsolutions.org) One solution is to use clean technologies. The clean technologies will decrease carbon dioxide by 51%. Another solution is to plant the earth with more trees. When the trees breathe, they take the carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. A third solution is to use electricity instead of fuel and gases. When the people depend more on electrical energy the carbon dioxide will decrease.
Overall, in my opinion global warming can be controlled if we control our lifestyle and try not to do thing not necessary. And try to use fewer cars and big machines that create a lot of carbon dioxide.

Task 6 Cool City
There is a corporation of 12 organizations called SDCJ and they want to build a clean city. These companies want to build a city that has clean air to benefit people. We saw a video in the class with our teacher about the Cool City and now I will write about this video which talks about the city.
However, there is also a solution to reduce the huge amount of CO2. The solution is to build Cool cities. Cool cities use the natural energy to reduce carbon. Also this city has zero carbon emissions. The Japanese have created this idea and they are working on it now. Also there is another city in the UAE and it is called Masdar city. They have started the project of Masdar city now and the location for this city is in Abu Dhabi. In Cool cities there are three types of transportation and these three types have zero carbon emission. In Cool city there are no cars, buses and trains. People will use only hybrid vehicles and water transportation. Also they use effective techniques to reduce heat by a lot of trees and canals. In addition, they use the wind to keep the city cool and build shaded areas to reduce the heat and people can walk anytime in shaded areas (Cheung.P).
In my opinion, the idea that SDCJ came up with, will help people to be healthy and protect the environment. The UAE is making a great step toward the future.

Summary (3) Traditions weigh on China’s women
In this article the writer talks about the suicide cases which became a habit in China for people who suffer from problems. The women suicide case is more than men especially in the countryside. This problem happens too much in rural areas where you can find agricultural poisons. Some fights between the husband and his wife end up with the women taking the poison to commit suicide just to make the husband know that it is not the right way to treat your wife. In addition, the suicide is a result of the heavy duties for the wife and the fights between them and their husband. Some people think that the tradition is one reason for this problem and some wives decide to commit suicide asking their husbands for better life and to tell everyone about how terrible their life is. The number of men is bigger than the number of women and this will cause very negative results such as prostitution and rape with no concept of mercy. One organization helps women to describe their feelings. In addition, there want to provide some subjects such as computing, cooking, information about suicide and marriage. Many of China’s women travel to another country and work. They get experience in life and become confident which means that working outside China is a good solution.
Mean idea:
The women in China commit suicide because their husbands take the women and do what they want and treat them like animals.
Opinion:
In my opinion the women should work outside the country to have an experience in the Married life, just as the writer says, because suicide would become less and we should let them do whatever they want.

Carbon footprint
My teacher gave us a web site to know what I measured in my carbon footprint in http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/.
Carbon footprint is the total GHG emissions you personally are responsible for in our life. I measure my friends carbon footprints 4.39, 3.3, 2.22 and 3.64 and the average of carbon footprint in my class is 3.86 and it is high and it means nearly 4 planets. As you can see the carbon footprint is not the same for everyone; each one has his own rate which depends on the way he lives.
There are various ways to reduce the amount of consumption of the earth’s resource and reduce the harm one person can cause like using cleaner ways of transportation by walking or using a bike to go for small errands to the market instead of the car. Also in the house one can use energy saving lights or choose energy efficient appliances. For food you can at least plant a garden of your own or choose food with less packaging to reduce waste and for housing use biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning products. Everyone in the world is trying their best to reduce the carbon emissions anyway possible and the UAE too is participating in this cause so we should look after this problem. I hope that everybody takes this problem seriously and I hope they think before they do anything.

Task 4, Argument: An Inconvenient Truth
A favorable review:
Brandon Fibbs http://brandonfibbs.com/2006/05/24/an-inconvenient-truth/ says that all scientists agree about global warming and that we are responsible. He thinks the movie was supported by so much evidence such as photos, facts and charts. Al Gore has enough studies to convince even the most ardent skeptic. He had shocking photographic evidence that showed the effect of global warming. Brandon Fibbs thinks that Al Gore ended the movie on a positive note when he said it was a moral issue not a political issue.
An unfavorable review:
Scott, http://movies.nytimes.com/2006/05/24/movies/24trut.html , says that Al Gore is a good speaker, but his message about global warming was interrupted when he started making jokes about Bush and the Republicans. As Scott sees it, the movie doesn’t seem to be about global warming but it seems to be about selling Al Gore as a saint or as future president. He wants the audience to believe him by moving them emotionally when he was talking about his personal life. There was another unfavorable review by Eric; he said that Al Gore may have shown the audience the pictures of glaciers that was taken in the winter and another in the summer. Also he said that Al Gore should have replaced the biased politics with references for his facts.
Opinion:
In my opinion this movie is interesting for many reasons and these reasons are a lot of information about global warming. The way the movie was presented and Al Gore’s way of explaining the causes of this problem were great. I think that people will take more responsibility when they know about this problem.
